Prior to launching RCF he was a natural resources sector banker with N.M. Rothschild in Australia and the U.S., and with Standard Chartered Bank. He began his professional career with BHP Limited. Ryan BennettPartner, Head of Technical
Member of the Investment CommitteeMr. Bennett holds a Masters degree in Mining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and an undergraduate degree in Geological Engineering and Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin. He has been with RCF since its inception, prior to which his experience included technical analyses of mining projects with N.M. Rothschild and assignments with Caterpillar, Inc. and the U.S. Bureau of Mines. At RCF, he currently serves as the Head of the Denver Office.Mr. Bennett serves on the Board of Directors of the following portfolio companies: Coastal Ventures A/S and Riversdale Resources Ltd.
Member of the Investment CommitteeMr. Tuten co-founded RCF in 1998 after many years leading Rothschild Australia Limited, Rothschild North America, Inc. and Continuation Investments N.V., the private equity arm of the Rothschild Group. He also founded the ECentury Capital Fund and the Emerging Markets Gold Fund. Hank has an Economics degree from the University of Virginia.
Ross BhappuPartner, Head of Private Equity Funds
Member of the Investment CommitteeMr. Bhappu holds a Ph.D. in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines and B.S. and M.S. degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Arizona. Prior to joining RCF in 2001 he was the president of a development-stage copper company, director of business development at Newmont Mining Corporation and served in various technical and financial roles at Cyprus Minerals Company.Mr. Bhappu serves on the Board of Directors of portfolio company Lighthouse Resources.
Member of the Investment CommitteeMr. Cranswick joined RCF in 2000 after serving as a mining industry equity analyst for Canadian retail and institutional brokerage firms and eight years as a mineral exploration geologist for a number of major international mining companies, the bulk of which was with Kennecott Canada Inc. and Freeport McMoRan Gold Company. He is a Professional Geologist and holds a B.Sc. degree in Geology from the University of British Columbia.Mr. Cranswick serves on the Board of Directors of the following portfolio companies: Coastal Ventures A/S and TMAC Resources Inc.
Peter NicholsonPartner, MD Australia, Investment Team Leader
Mr. Nicholson graduated from the University of Queensland with a B.Eng (Mining) and is a Senior Fellow of FINSIA, after completing a graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment. Prior to joining RCF in 2003, he gained technical experience in mine production, planning and management with LionOre Australia (Nickel) and WMC Resources.
Mason HillsPartner, Investment Team Leader
Mr.Hills has advised Resource Capital Funds since 2001, and joined in an in-house capacity in 2006. Prior to joining RCF, he practiced as a commercial lawyer, specializing in corporate and finance law in the resources sector. He has a B.Ec. degree from the University of Western Australia and a graduate LL.B (First Class Honors) from Murdoch University.Mr. Hills serves on the Board of Directors of the following portfolio companies: First Bauxite Corporation, First Drilling Group and Global Advanced Metals Pty Ltd.
Sherri CroasdalePartner, Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Croasdale formally joined Resource Capital Funds in 2006, but has worked with RCF since its inception. She supported RCF as a Principal of Eastpointe Management LLC, a firm that provided outsourced accounting and administrative services to private equity funds, from 2001 to 2005, and as Director of Fund Administration at Rothschild North America and Continuation Investments N.V. from 1988 to 2001. Prior to joining Rothschild, Ms. Croasdale was with Deloitte & Touche LLP for several years. She holds a B.S. degree in accounting from the State University of New York at Binghamton and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Catherine BoggsPartner, General Counsel
Ms. Boggs joined RCF in January 2011, after having served as Sr. Vice President, Corporate Development at Barrick Gold Corporation. Prior to joining Barrick in 2005, Cassie was an international partner at the law firm of Baker & McKenzie, having practiced in its Chicago, San Francisco, Almaty and Jakarta offices. Her professional career has focused on the natural resources sector. She has undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Denver and a Masters degree from Michigan State University.
David ThomasPartner, Managing Director Canada
Member of the Investment CommitteeMr. Thomas joined RCF in 2010 following an investment banking career that included positions as a mining equity analyst and as a specialty mining salesperson serving institutional clients. Prior to this he was an exploration geologist for Inmet Mining. He is a Professional Geoscientist and holds a B.Sc. in Earth Sciences from the University of Waterloo and a M.Sc. from Queen's University.Mr. Thomas serves on the Board of Directors of the following portfolio companies: Buffalo Coal Corp. and Noront Resources Ltd.
Martin ValdesPartner, Managing Director Latin America
Mr. Valdes joined RCF in 2015 following an investment banking career that included positions at J.P. Morgan and Citigroup in New York and as a Partner of Hudson Bankers, a Latin American M&A boutique based in Chile. During all this time he conducted several M&A and other transaction advisory services across Latin America, North America and Europe. Mr. Valdes has an MBA with distinction from the University of Michigan Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Universidad Catolica de Chile.
Michael RowePartner, HR Business Director
Mr. Rowe joined Resource Capital Funds in 2010 after 22 years with the Royal Dutch Shell Group. During his time with Shell he worked in Human Resources, and in Commercial, Governance and M&A roles in the UK, Netherlands, China, Singapore and Australia. He has a strong external focus advising RCF portfolio companies and leading HR aspects of investments. Michael commenced his career working in industrial relations at Australian mine site operations. He is a graduate in Arts (Industrial Relations & Political Science) from the University of New South Wales, and a Fellow of the Australian HR Institute.
Jasper BertisenPartner, Investment Team Leader
Mr. Bertisen graduated with a M.Sc. degree in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines and a M.Sc. degree in Mining Engineering from Delft University of Technology. Prior to joining Resource Capital Funds in 2004, he completed traineeships in Germany, Finland, Chile and Australia in a number of open pit and underground mining operations. In 2005, Mr. Bertisen worked full time with one of RCF's portfolio companies with base metal operations in Portugal.
Chris CorbettPartner, Deputy Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Corbett joined Resource Capital Funds in 2008 after working as a financial analyst and commercial manager within the business development department at Wesfarmers Limited. Prior to this he worked as an engineer for Byrnecut Mining Pty Ltd where he gained technical experience in shaft sinking and equipping and underground mine development and production. Mr. Corbett has a B.Eng. (Mech, First Class Honors) and a B.Comm. from the University of Western Australia, Grad. Dip. in Mining from the Western Australian School of Mines and a Grad. Dip. in Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA.Mr. Corbett serves on the Board of Directors of the following portfolio companies: Ascot Resources Ltd. and Wolf Minerals Ltd.
Brett BeattyPartner, Investment Team Leader
Mr. Beatty joined Resource Capital Funds in 2009 having worked as a mining engineer for numerous companies including Mincor Resources and Barminco. Mr. Beatty’s fields of experience include production, planning, mine design, geotechnical and mine site management in various underground operations across Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering) degree and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree with Honors from Curtin University in Western Australia. Mr. Beatty also holds a Western Australia First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate.Mr. Beatty serves on the Board of Directors of the following portfolio companies: Piney Woods Resources, Provale Holdings S.A. and TinBr Participacoes S.A.
Michele ValentiPartner, Chief Operating Officer
Ms. Valenti joined Resource Capital Funds in December 2016, after having served as Global Chief Operating Officer, Private Equity at Deutsche Bank. Michele was with Deutsche Bank for 17 years and held various COO / Business Management roles in the Bank’s private equity, infrastructure, real estate and hedge funds units in NY. She has also held COO and Business Development roles with Deutsche Bank in their Emerging Market Equities and Latin America divisions. Prior to Deutsche Bank she was with Nomura Securities, Merrill Lynch and Mahoney Cohen & Company. Michele holds a Bachelor of Science (Accounting and International Business) from New York University and was a Certified Public Accountant (New York).
Jeff MillsManaging Director, Global Head of Investor Relations
Mr. Mills holds a B.S. degree in Mathematical Economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an M.B.A from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. After graduating from the United States Military Academy, Mr. Mills served in the United States Army as an aviation officer.Prior to joining RCF in May, 2016, Mr. Mills held positions in various fundraising and client services, including most recently as Managing Director at Brooklands Capital Strategies, a division of TPG and Ares Management. Prior to Brookland Capital, he was the Head of Investor Relations and Marketing at Oak Hill Capital, and started in the industry with Probitas Partners.
Mr. Parrill joined Resource Capital Funds in 2008 having most recently worked is various operational roles for Lafarge North American in the western United States. Mr. Parrill’s previous experience covered the life-cycle of mining operations including mine permitting, planning, construction, operation and reclamation. He holds both a Bachelor’s of Science (Engineering, with civil specialty) degree and a Master’s of Science (Mineral Economics) degree from The Colorado School of Mines. Mr. Parrill serves on the Board of Directors of portfolio company Lydian International Ltd.
Jacqueline MurrayPrincipal, Investment Team Leader
Mrs. Murray joined RCF in 2012 after working in business analysis and improvement roles with BHP Billiton. Prior to this she worked in various geotechnical engineering roles in underground and open pit operations within BHP Billiton and WMC Resources. Mrs. Murray holds a MBA from Melbourne Business School and a bachelor of geological engineering from RMIT University. She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
